Bevalo
Our coffee isn't bitter, neither are we.
the outside of bevaloWe are a happy little café offering family grown, fairly traded micro-lot coffees, loose-leaf teas and organic fresh baked treats. We are inspired by the individuals who make up the global and local community that bring us our organic coffee, organic tea and local ingredients for our treats. We honor this community everyday by preparing their culinary gifts with care and obsession.

espresso - Our espresso is crafted with care and precision. We always have 2 kinds of espresso for you to enjoy, choose our espresso blend or a micro-lot single origin varietal. Our espresso tastes great alone or in milk. Every cappuccino and latte is made with organic milk, or organic soy milk, textured with steam into a velvety smooth microfoam then combined with our espresso.

coffee - We offer many choices of direct relationship and fair trade coffee. Our coffee is grown, harvested, processed, and roasted by people that want you to have the best cup of coffee possible. We honor their hard work and knowledge by brewing the coffee by the cup, for you, when you order it. We also offer our coffee beans in retail packaging, so you can make sweet coffee love at home.

tea - You can select from a wide variety of award winning direct and fairly traded organic look leaf tea; white, green, oolong, black and herbal. Retail loose leaf tea, brewing accessories, and cups are available for you to enjoy wonderful tea.

treats - Enjoy a wonderful variety of treats made in-house, by us.

Coffee, tea or chocolate?

Coffee, tea or chocolate?

I had in mind a pot of tea and a scone when I headed out to Bevalo, a fresh downtown coffeeshop on this English-ish day. But I got distracted by something on the menu called a "chocolate martini." Shaken, not stirred. And no kick, of course. Just espresso, dark chocolate and cream, shaken over ice and strained into a glass.

I'm not completely crazy. I asked that my martini be made with milk instead of cream. I only know of one person who drank cream when he was thirsty and that is Chef Paul Prudhomme. IJS.

THis is a real grown-up treat—complexly bitter and and energizing in a gentler way than coffee but a sexier way than tea. The only thing that could have made it better was a hot day. Fortunately, my companion shared his his hot pot with me.

Visit Bevalo and Taste the Love (of Coffee)

Visit Bevalo and Taste the Love (of Coffee)- by Marguerite Marceau Henderson

A new coffeehouse in this city is big news. So, imagine my thrill to hear of a hip, happening and totally chic new establishment downtown Salt Lake City.

Opened about 8 months ago by two young entrepreneurs - married couple Andrea Maize and Jon Stovall (his mother Suzie takes cooking classes from me), Bevalo is located at 123 East 2nd South, in an old bank building, free standing brick ediface with plenty of seating and filled with canister of free trade beans.

The concentration of coffee beans from around the world is intensified by the aroma as you enter. Cups of coffee are made to order. No coffee is sitting in large stainless steel containers for hours. Your cup of freshly brewed coffee is just minutes from ordering. As are cups of freshly steeped teas.

Cappuccinos, lattes, and espresso hits are their specialty, with coffee “art” on the top of each cappuccino and latte to add eye appeal. “Making sweet coffee love ” is their motto.

A few pastries are baked daily on premise, along with quiches and salads for lunch. Coffee is their passion, the food is just an accoutrement, not a focus.
